Needle felted mini kingfisher

A handsome kingfisher sitting on a branch sculpted from woollen fibres using a needle felting technique. The body of the kingfisher is made from a core of white Corriedale wool sculpted into shape using a barbed felting needle. A top coat of merino wool in appropriate colours has been added along with wired legs, a silk clay beak, and beaded eyes. The kingfisher is then mounted on a perch needle felted from brown woollen fibres over a wire former and secured on a small wooden disc allowing it to be free standing.

The kingfisher measures approximately 10 cm in length with the ornament as a whole measuring approximately 15cm tall. A larger sized version of this kingfisher is available in my shop.
