Needle felted Swan, wings outstretched

A mute swan standing with wings outstretched has been needle felted using woollen fibres. White wool fibres have been sculpted into shape using a barbed felting needle to bind the fibres together and sculpt the body shape. The wings have been cut from a piece of wool felt and the to edge wired to allow the wings to be gently posed. The legs have been made using wired wrapped in woollen fibres. The beak is made using silk clay and has been hand coloured. Finally, small black beads have been added for the eyes.

The swan has been mounted on an oval wooden base covered with artificial grass fabric.

The ornament stands approximately 9.5cm tall and the wingspan of the swan (as posed) is approximately 16cm.

I have more than one of these swans and all will be slightly different
